Lindos is more efficiently visited with organised transport — a coach excursion, private driver or careful independent planning with a taxi — because of the road time involved.
Repeat visitors: if you have already spent time in the Old Town on a previous call, Lindos becomes the more natural next destination. Conversely, first-time visitors on a shorter call may get more lasting satisfaction from doing the Old Town properly than rushing Lindos.
