Kamiros was one of the three ancient Doric city-states of Rhodes, alongside Lindos and Ialysos. Unlike Lindos, its ruins were never substantially built over, so the site preserves a legible ancient street grid, a residential quarter, a Hellenistic stoa and a hilltop sanctuary, without a later medieval fortress layered on top.
The site sits on the island's west coast, roughly 30–35 km from Rhodes Town, and is generally quieter than Lindos or the Old Town, appealing to repeat visitors or travellers who prefer archaeology without the crowds.
Visitors can walk through the lower residential terraces, past cisterns and house foundations, up to the stoa and the upper sanctuary area, with sea views across to the coast.
